Equity funds in Kenya
Equity funds do not have a fixed “rate”. Their unit prices rise and fall with the underlying investments. Amka therefore shows dated historical performance, not a promised return.

What the 2026 comparison shows
Among the funds with comparable year-to-date data reported on 18 August, NCBA led this selected group at 21.1%, followed by Britam at 18.8%, CIC at 17.8% and ICEA Lion at 10.0%. The same market report put the average equity-fund return at 16.6% year-to-date versus a 26% gain for the Nairobi market over the same period.
Why Old Mutual is shown separately
The latest Old Mutual Kenya factsheet Amka could verify uses a different measurement basis: a 1-year return of 36.1% as at May 2026. It should not be ranked directly against the August 2026 year-to-date figures above.
How to compare equity funds properly
Look beyond one return number. Check fees, the reporting period, holdings, cash allocation, volatility and whether returns are shown before or after fees. Past performance is evidence of what happened, not a forecast of what will happen next.
