How Amka stays independent

A rate board is only worth reading if you know exactly what it is, where its numbers come from, and what it is not allowed to do.

What Amka is

Amka is a publisher of factual market information. It collects rates and performance figures that institutions and regulators have already published, presents them in one place with the source and the date, and lets you compare them yourself.

What Amka is not

Amka is not a licensed investment adviser or fund manager. It does not recommend products, does not tell you what to buy, does not manage portfolios, and is not authorised by the Capital Markets Authority to do any of those things. Sorting a table by published rate is a statement of fact; telling you which fund to choose would be advice, and Amka does not cross that line.

Amka is not a bank, deposit-taker or payment service. It is not licensed or supervised by the Central Bank of Kenya, it never holds, receives, transfers or handles your money, and it will never ask you to send funds anywhere.

Amka is not paid for placement. No institution can buy a higher position, a better presentation, or removal from a table. If Amka ever introduces paid verified listings, they will be clearly labelled as such and will never affect the order of any table.

Where the numbers come from

Treasury bills and bonds: Central Bank of Kenya auction results. Money market, equity, balanced, fixed income, special, dollar and Sharia funds: the fund managers' own published yields and factsheets. SACCOs: AGM announcements and SASRA reports. Pensions: the Retirement Benefits Authority and the Zamara and ACTSERV surveys. REITs and dividend yields: NSE published data. Bank deposits: banks' published rates and CBK monthly statistics.

Every table names its sources and the date it was last updated. Anything not yet checked against its source is marked with an asterisk or shown as "pending" — Amka publishes a blank rather than a guess.

Your data

Amka collects only what you give it: a phone number if you join the weekly update, and an email plus your own figures if you save a plan. It is never sold or shared. Amka handles personal data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 — see the Contact · Privacy Policy.

Corrections

If a figure here is wrong, tell us and it will be corrected in that week's update, with the change recorded in the product's public rate history. Nothing is quietly edited — every change Amka makes is logged and visible.
