What a pension fund is
Kenyan retirement schemes report performance through industry surveys rather than daily pricing. Segregated schemes invest directly across asset classes and their returns move with markets; guaranteed funds declare a smoothed rate each year with a capital guarantee. Figures are averages or medians across many schemes, so an individual scheme's return will differ. Schemes are regulated by the Retirement Benefits Authority.
